He who cannot be a good follower cannot be a good leader.”
Patria potestas (Latin for "power of the father") was a foundational concept in Roman law dictating that the male head of a household (paterfamilias) held absolute legal authority over his wife, children, descendants and slaves. While historically ruthless, this concept evolved into modern legal definitions of parental rights.
Genesis 18:19 – For I have chosen him, that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing righteousness and justice, so that the Lord may bring to Abraham what he has promised him.

In 1 Kings 10:14–29 describes the immense wealth, splendor and wide spread power of Solomon’s kingdom, shown through gold, shields, ivory throne, luxury goods, chariots, horses, and trade.
The passage highlights how God had greatly blessed Solomon.
In Ecclesiastes 2:4-11, Solomon describes those luxurious works, houses, vineyards, gardens, wealth, pleasures and then calls them vanity. What can I learn from him?

In the ancient world, the eye was often connected to moral perception and the condition of the heart. A “good eye” would be associated with generosity, sincerity and openness. A “bad eye” was often associated with greed, envy, stinginess or moral corruption.
In 2 Kings 5:20-27 Greed drove Elisha’s servant Gehazi to chase down Naaman's caravan and lie, falsely claiming his master needed silver and clothes for visitors. Gehazi returned the stolen treasures to his home, but his attempt to cover his tracks with another lie failed. As punishment for his deceit and greed, the prophet cursed him and his descendants with Naaman's leprosy. Poor Gehazi had a bad eye.

Gunna do – Invasive species that thrives in a “churchianity” environment with a distinctive cry. “Gonna do…”, “Gonna do…”
Largely harmless, but can overwhelm a church if numbers grow.
In Acts 13:6-12, Paul stares down Elymas (Bar-Jesus) for opposing the Gospel and trying to turn the proconsul away from the faith, calling him a “son of the devil” and “full of all deceit.”

Jesus is not commanding a fasting schedule in Matthew 6:16. But He is assuming fasting will have a place in the life of His disciples. Fasting should be a part of our walk just as is prayer and fellowship.
Anyone who has fasted knows that you get a sort of mental sharpness or awareness.
There is a mountain of evidence supporting both the spiritual and physical benefits of fasting. Everyone should do their own research and you may find it benefits you.

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. (Ephesians 4:30, ESV).
In the New Testament, Jesus talks about the Holy Spirit in the gospel of John, Christ describes Him as a Person with intellect, emotions, and will. His presence within
each believer is Jesus’ special provision for His followers alone.

“A man should be able to change a diaper, butcher a hog, drive anything, design a house, shoot a gun, write a poem, balance a checking account, build a wall, tend a wound, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve a problem, shovel manure, cook a good meal, fight well and die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.” – paraphrased quote from author Robert A. Heinlein
Matthew 4:1-11 details Jesus being led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by Satan after a 40-day fast. Jesus overcame all three temptations by quoting Scripture and relying on God’s Word, showing perfect obedience to the Father.

Prayer is a critical trait of being a Follower of Christ. Prayer keeps the believer near God, dependent on His strength, aligned with His will, honest about sin, grateful for grace, and steadfast in faith, obedience, peace, and worship. It’s not possible to follow Christ and do God’s Will in an effective without prayer and time in Scripture.

Hypokritēs (hoop-awk-ree-tase) Greek word associated with stage actors; people who wore a mask; a pretender. That is Christ’s diagnosis of religious showmanship. A hypocrite is not simply a weak Christian who struggles. A hypocrite is a performer. This is perhaps the biggest image problem Christianity has: Hypocrisy. Being fake pretenders.
